Measuring Guide for Vertical Blinds

How to measure - Vertical blinds

Things to Remember
  • Measure in millimetres and round each measurement to the nearest 1mm.
  • Use a steel tape measure for accuracy.
  • Measure all windows, even those that appear to be the same width and height.
  • When ordering, always specify the width measurement first and then the drop (height).
  • Remember to specify ‘Recess’ or ‘Exact’ size when ordering.
  • Look out for any obstructions such as window handles, tiles, dado rails etc, and take their position into account if necessary. This way you will be sure of a perfect  fit for your blind.
  • Consider the stacking height for the product that you choose.
If you have any questions about measuring your window please call us on 01862-42233 or email us at: pvcverticalblinds

Measuring

All measurements should be made in millimetres (mm), taken to the nearest 1mm, preferably using a metal tape measure. When measuring, care should be taken to note any obstructions that may affect the positioning of your blind such as window handles, picture rails, curtains, partially tiled recesses, etc.

Before you start measuring you will need to decide where you will fit your blinds. All of our blinds can be either mounted within the recess of your window or fixed to the wall outside the recess (see diagrams).

If you intend to hang your blinds within the window recess please follow the recess measuring instructions. If you intend to hang your blinds on the wall outside of the window recess please follow the exact measuring instructions.

If you have any problems or queries about measuring please
contact us here or email us describing the problem you are having to pvcblinds.co.uk

ecess Measuring Instructions
When measuring your window recess do not make any allowances. Measure the precise size and we will adjust your sizes so your blind fits perfectly within the recess.

1. Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall as shown at the top, middle and bottom of the window. Note down the smallest measurement.

2. Measure the drop from the window sill to the top of the recess as shown below at the left, centre and right of the window. Note down the smallest measurement.

3. Enter your sizes into the price calculator on our website to obtain the price for your window blind.

Exact Measuring Instructions

When you measure the exact size, we will produce your blind to your exact measurements. When measuring we recommend that the blind extends at least 50mm above the window recess and at least 30mm to either side of the window recess.

Important Note for measuring Roller Blinds

When providing an exact size for roller blinds the width will be taken as the exact width of the fabric (Cloth Size). Note when fitted the actual width of the blind with brackets will be approximately 30mm wider than the cloth size.

1. Measure the exact width of where you intend to hang your blind. Note down this measurement.

2. Measure the exact drop from where you intend the top of your blind to be to the bottom. Note down this measurement.
