Wood being a natural product and not predictable, it is not recommended to use real wood blinds in bathrooms for this reason or any room that has a lot of moisture, if there is not enough air flow within that room.
Cleaning is much easier with the larger size slats as you can get a duster between them. Lambswool dusters are by far the best type to use but you can also use a damp cloth to clean them if they are really dirty.
